Interestingly, Chef-Owner Mint and his partner Noelle started their very own burger and grill concept from very humble beginnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A couple of years back, Mint\u2019s dad fell ill and in the face of adversity, Mint\u2019s mindset shifted. \u201cI could be an office worker forever\u2026,\u201d he commented, \u201cor I can do something of my passion whilst he (my dad) is still alive to witness me do so.\u201d To open his own F&amp;B has always been an unspoken wish, but his dad\u2019s situation ignited a spark in him to embark on his long-awaited journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/feeds.oddle.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ezgif.com-gif-maker-1.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4782\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Together with his partner, Noelle, they both buckled, hustled quickly, and opened The Social Outcast at a coffee shop in Tampines. It wasn\u2019t anything fancy. She displayed the collective effort that went into the signboard and menu designs, proudly done without any marketing agency\u2019s help. Truly a pair who dug deep, put their feet on the ground and made things happen within their own means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-social-outcast-an-unorthodox-concept\">The Social Outcast: An unorthodox concept?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/feeds.oddle.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ezgif.com-gif-maker-2-1.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4793\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Upholding their mission to serve customers the best, they spared nothing to import the Lamborghini of ovens\u2014the high-end Mibrasa handcrafted oven from Spain. The reason? They wanted a real representation of a charcoal grill and wood-fire smoked burger and meat joint. Across most kitchens in the world, meat has always been done best and done right over charcoal and raw fire. And certainly, a good oven is part of a chef\u2019s craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>We bring quality grilled food that you are only able to get in fine-dining restaurants, here at a hawker setting.<\/p><cite>Chef-Owner Mint<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>It is something unorthodox. In fact, Mint shared that many chefs &#8220;told us it is not going to work&#8221;, &#8220;we are not going to churn out hundreds of burgers with this oven&#8221; and that &#8220;it doesn\u2019t make sense&#8221;. The odds stood no chance for this strong-willed duo and got the nay-sayers gripping tightly. They have since expanded to Bedok Marketplace (Level 2), thanks to the overwhelming support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-off-the-menu-dishes-fiery-roasts-more\">Off-the-menu dishes, fiery roasts &amp; more<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A tip for all when you head to The Social Outcast, ask for their \u2018off-the-menu dishes\u2019.  Chef Mint\u2019s special surprise menu items are fiery delights. For the month of December 2020, they have a charcoal-grilled<em>&nbsp;<\/em>Bone Marrow, pin-wheeled<em>&nbsp;<\/em>Beef Chorizo<em>&nbsp;<\/em>served with mashed potatoes and also lamb meatballs, and<a href=\"https:\/\/thesocialoutcast.oddle.me\/en_SG\/product\/8a8197a77712957c017714b0336e7f04\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;Jamaican Jerk Half-Spring Chicken<\/a> ($18)<em>.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/feeds.oddle.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ezgif.com-gif-maker-1-2.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4786\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For burger lovers, try the unique and unforgettable <a href=\"https:\/\/thesocialoutcast.oddle.me\/en_SG\/product\/8a818e0873516ec2017356727e5b020b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Teriyaki Unagi Burger<\/a> ($21)&nbsp;served with tempura fries. It&#8217;s a serious stack of goodness. Meat lovers can try the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thesocialoutcast.oddle.me\/en_SG\/product\/8a81931a7351639b0173566c497f78ea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Outcast Possible Meats Burger<\/a><em> <\/em>($23). He smiled. The usual chatty chap paused, as we both sat in comfortable silence. His smile dipped\u2014perhaps from reminiscing about old times. Our chat came to a close with less being said.
