Birds Of A Feather
All-day dining cafe & bar. Contemporary Western cuisine with a pronounced Szechuan inspiration.
'The cuisine here is contemporary Western with Sichuan influences, think Sichuan sauces and spices in the dishes. For all-day snacks, the Find the Chicken in the Chillies (S$16) makes a good teaser to whet your appetite. It looks spicy but the spiciness of the chicken is not overwhelming, which reminded me of popcorn chicken in the Sichuan version. Another crowd’s favourite from the small plates menu is the Fried Calamari with Yuzu Tartar Sauce (S$19). The fresh and addictive calamari is coated with egg white batter, fried to a nice crisp texture and paired with yuzu tartar sauce. This sounds like a very common and simple dish, but this version is exemplary.'

'Look forward to small plates options such as Crispy Pork Trotter in a Bag ($12/5pcs), Find the Chicken in the Chillies ($16), Fortune Skewer in Szechuan Pepper Broth ($19) and Fried Calamari ($19) with yuzu tartar sauce. Crispy Pork Trotter in a Bag is inspired by paper wrap chicken or shaker fries where you add in the sichuan spices into the paper bag and shake it well with the cooked trotter. Positively exploding with flavour, Find the Chicken in the Chillies, or simply firecracker chicken, comes fiery and filled with sichuan peppers and chillies.'
'I’ve found the Chicken in the Chillies (pun intended) to be addictively good; the spicy peppercorn-laden dish becomes numbingly better as you nibble on. Unlike its traditional version, these chicken bites are juicy and best of all, bone-free.'
