1. Indian Express

Be prepared for one of the heartiest meals you will ever have. Indian Express is the new casual concept by 2019 Michelin Guide Restaurant, The Song of India. Indian Express prides itself in creating affordable dishes that uses authentic herbs and the finest of ingredients. Ring in the Festival of Lights with their exclusive Diwali catering menu, which offers a myriad of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

Titillate your taste buds with a Biryani Set ($18), an extensive meal featuring the signature Chicken Biryani. Also, don’t forget to share the celebratory love with those around you! Add on a specialty Kashmiri Lamb Rack ($14) or a Mixed Vegetarian Platter ($18). Savour the mouthwatering, delectable Indian cuisine by Indian Express without burning a huge hole in your pocket!

2. Indian Curry House

Deepavali celebrations are not complete without family, friends, and a heart-warming meal. Check the last box out with extensive and undeniably exquisite set meals from the unassuming Indian Curry House Bukit Timah. Founded over 10 years ago by three experienced food apprentices, this hole in the wall eatery never fails to impress with authentic North Indian Tandoori Cuisine.

Give your loved ones the best and choose from four Diwali 2022 Special Menus for 5 to 10 pax. Tuck into both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options in the Diwali Veg Special Menu or Diwali Non Veg Special Menu. Add on individual specials such as Hara Bhara Kebab (Veg) ($15.90) and Chicken Masala Tikka ($19.90). Remember to get your orders in 3 days in advance or miss out on the delightful spread!

3. Anglo Indian Cafe

I’m quite sure these pictures got you as hungry as I am right now. Anglo Indian Cafe and Bar was recently awarded the Singapore Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand award in 2021. The menu covers cuisine from the North to the coastal plains of India. Its food’s rich flavours are the perfect result of liberal use of yoghurt, coconut, almonds, and an assortment of Indian spices. Simply perfect for Deepavali.

Go for the Chicken Dum Biryani ($23) or Vegetable Dum Biryani ($19) in their bundle offers, made special through Dum Cooking, an age-old method of preparation. Boneless chicken pieces or seasonal vegetables and fragrant Basmati rice are sealed in an earthen pot, retaining its authentic flavours. Finish off the divine meal with a cold beer or a cooling Ras Malai ($9), a specialty cheese cake sprinkled with saffron and pistachio. Are you drooling already? I know I am.

4. Tandoor

Having clinched Wine & Dine’s Top Restaurants award and an exclusive feature on the Singapore Tatler’s Best Restaurant Guide, Tandoor prides itself on authentically prepared North Indian cuisine. Opened in 1985, the restaurant focuses on expertly handcrafted dishes. With traditional methods of preparation, its food definitely fulfils the rich history of Indian cuisine.

We’d choose their easy-to-go Bento Sets (from $15), perfect for any occasion. Cater to a variety of palettes with the Vegetarian Bento Set ($15), or go all out with the Tandoor Executive Bento ($25) before.

Of course, no meal is complete without digging into signature North Indian desserts. Take the Gulab Jamun ($12), for one. Trust me, it’s worth it.

5. Karu’s Indian Banana Leaf Restaurant

Anyone visiting Karu’s Indian Banana Leaf Restaurant will be spoilt for choice at their extensive menu.

Spanning all parts of the Indian sub-continent, Karu’s is known for specialties like Fish Head Curry (from $30) and Mutton Mysore (from $9.50). Using only the best quality spices sourced from India, the Fish Head Curry is perhaps the most authentic rendition you can find, with just enough spice to awaken your taste buds. I guarantee you, they sure live up to their tagline “East or West, Taste is Best”! Have a try for yourself this Deepavali!

6. Punjab Grill

I’m sure we can all agree on this: there’s nothing like digging into a warm, hearty Biryani. And that’s exactly what you’d get at Punjab Grill. The menu offers an extensive range inspired by the gourmet metropolis of the Punjab region in India.

Indulge in a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, like the Nalli Gosht Biryani ($45), a luscious fall-off-the-bone lamb shank accompanied with saffron-hued basmati.

Spoilt for choice? Have them all with Non-Veg Kebab Platter ($70). Each platter comes with a delectable combination of chicken, fish, and lamb kebabs. Everything on the platter is grilled to smoky perfection while retaining its moist, succulent mouthfeel.

7. Shahi Maharani

Panipuri ($16)

Who wouldn’t love to be treated like royalty? At Shahi Maharani, be prepared to eat like a king. As its name suggests, which translates from Hindi to mean “Royal Queen”, each dish is prepared to perfection and filled with the exquisite flavours of North India. What better way to celebrate Deepavali than to feast like kings and queens?

Enjoy Panipuri ($16), a popular street snack featuring mashed potato, chickpeas and onion, stuffed in hollow crispy puris. Don’t miss out on their Tawa Jheenga ($40), a hearty house special dish featuring spiced tiger prawns seared carefully over a hot iron griddle.

8. Zaffron Kitchen

A multi-award winning restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide Singapore 2016-2019 Bib Gourmand, Zaffron Kitchen is here to impress.

Go for the Seekh Mutton Kebabs ($20.90), which is marinated in a mix of yoghurt, garlic, coriander and a host of other spices to create an intense flavour to complement the mutton. If you’re hosting a party at home, impress your guests with the Zaffron Tandoori Platter ($53.90), cooked perfectly over an intense fire right in the Tandoor. If you’re not up for meat, then opt for their vast selection of vegetarian curries. Best coupled with some Tandoori bread or even a glass of wine!

9. Shamiana

Tucked in a cosy corner in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Serangoon Gardens, Shamiana Indian Restaurant is the epitome of fine North Indian cuisine. Indulge in signature dishes like the Chicken Hariyali Tikka ($19.90) or Paneer Hariyali Tikka ($15.90). All freshly prepared with a combination of mint, coriander leaves and aromatic spices.

If you’re looking for something fuss-free, indulge in their selection of Lunch Bentos Boxes. Choose from the Butter Chicken Set ($13.90) or Lamb Set ($14.90). For Vegetarian choices, the Palak Paneer Set ($12.90) is the one for you. No matter the choice, Shamiana’s dishes will surely excite and delight your palate.

10. Mustard Restaurant

Get ready to be wowed by the first and only Bengali and Punjabi Restaurant in Singapore. Mustard Restaurant brings the best from the region for your Deepavali feast. The restaurant uses a myriad of spices plus a crucial ingredient in the Indian spice repository, Mustard.

Don’t miss out on their Chingri Maacher Malai Curry ($20.90)! Made of succulent prawns and coconut cream and topped with the holy trinity of spices: cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.

Pair your delectable curry with a warm pot of slightly spiced Kolkata Special Chicken Biryani ($17.90). Available boneless too! For a bit more spice, cross the Indian sub-continent for Punjabi dishes. Bring the “Pride of Punjab” straight to your table with a Murgh Makhani ($17.90), more commonly known as Butter Chicken.
