From steaks to salmon wellington, there’s definitely something for every discerning palate during this wonderful time of the year.
1. Buona Terra
The name of this one Michelin-starred restaurant means “good earth”, and Buona Terra certainly brings the bounty of the land to your table. The Festive Feast At Home (from $178/person) is a treasure trove of the finest ingredients. Sublime dishes include Oven Baked Mozambique Scampi, a Pasta Fredda of cold angel hair pasta, tomato emulsion, sea urchin and caviar and Brasato (wagyu short ribs slow cooked in Barolo wine). This will definitely be one unforgettable meal.
2. Greenwood Fish Market
For many Italians, seafood is a must on Christmas Eve. This year, you can start the same tradition with the freshest frutti di mare from Greenwood Fish Market. The Alan’s Seafood Feast ($399) comes with prawns, cold salmon, oysters and sea bass. Fish-focused fans will find plenty to devour in the Trio Of Salmon ($235), which consists of hot and cold smoked salmon, a salmon wellington and a sticky date and coconut log cake.
3. L’Angelus
Opened since 1998, Michelin-Plated L’Angelus serves some of the most authentic French dishes among fine dining restaurants in Singapore. The L’Angelus Christmas Gourmand Menus (starting from $98, good for 2-3 persons) will be a treat for francophiles. They include French onion soup, homemade chicken liver pate, beef steak or roast chicken as a main course, and dessert. You can also put together your own elegant meal with mains such as Confit Duck Haricot Fine Bean and Pomme Purée ($40.70) and Roasted Spring Chicken in Truffle and Morel Cream Sauce with Mashed Potato ($40.70).
4. Sofitel Singapore City Centre
Decadent and delicious delights abound in Sofitel Singapore City Centre’s Christmas selections. The Braised Black Angus Beef Cheek in Red Wine ($113, serves 4-6 persons) and beautiful desserts such as the Fraisier Chestnut Tart ($63 for 1kg) and Homemade Panettone ($33 for 500g) are sure to brighten your table and spirits for this Yuletide season.
5. Thank Goodness It’s Christmas
During this pandemic, #EatLocal and #SupportLocal as much as you can. Thank Goodness It’s Christmas is a delivery-only concept that uses locally and regionally sourced ingredients from farms such as Ah Hua Kelong. The Family Feast (from $268) is perfect for home parties of six to eight persons and comes with three hot mains, four sides and two desserts. Asian-inspired goodies include Laksa Quail and Rendang Dry Rub Angus Beef Short Ribs plus vegan- and vegetarian-friendly options such as Ulam Pesto Pasta with Tempeh Chips and Sauteed Garden Vegetables with Ulam Pesto.
6. Wheeler’s Estate
As far as high-quality rustic plates go, the platters from Wheeler’s Estate will not disappoint. Take your pick from the Tomahawk Platter ($268), Maple Glazed Whole Roasted Chicken Platter ($188) or Herb Crusted Salmon Platter ($208). Each one feeds four to six persons and includes accompaniments such as an antipasto platter, mac and cheese and oven-roasted vegetables with herbs. Definitely a pretty sight to whet the appetite.
