1. ASTONS Specialities

ASTONS Specialities’ charry roasts are sure to make your mouth water!

ASTONS Specialities shouldn’t come as an unfamiliar name, being a homegrown brand known for their affordability and wide variety. The casual steakhouse prides itself on serving up delicious steaks charbroiled to perfection. Dishes like their Prime Sirloin ($20.50) and Black Pepper Steak ($20.50) are safe options, as such. I’m also a huge fan of their supremely succulent Chargrilled Chicken ($13) and Hickory BBQ Chicken ($13). Every dish even comes with two sides, making them so value for money.

2. Burger & Lobster

It can’t get better than a seafood and burger feast with Burger & Lobster.

It wasn’t that long ago when Burger & Lobster, the O.G. Chunky Lobster, arrived on our shores to everyone’s excitement. Ever since trying their legendary Original Lobster Roll ($28), I dare say no other lobster roll I’ve tried has topped it. You’ll also be delighted to know that they prepare their 1.5lbs Lobster Combo ($60) using live wild Canadian lobsters. Lobsters aside, Burger & Lobster does pretty mean burgers too. The B&L Beast Burger ($23) and The Mayfair Burger ($14) feature tantalizing patties made out of premium Nebraskan beef.

3. Cicheti

Margherita ($21)

Tucked away in Kampong Glam lies the cosy Italian restaurant that is Cicheti. Offering a distinctive perspective on Italian cuisine, they’re well-known for their wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas. A classic Margherita ($21) or cheesy Quattro Formaggi ($26) pizza is always perfect for sharing in a group. Or if you prefer your carbs in other forms, the truffle Ricotta Gnocchi ($28) and housemade tomato Spaghetti ($24) are indulgent options too.

4. Extra Virgin Pizza

Pizza parties are better with Extra Virgin Pizza’s Neapolitan bakes!

Those of you who like your pizza crusts thin (sorry, can’t relate…), chances are you’ve heard of Extra Virgin Pizza. The bold craft pizzeria claims to serve some of the best thin-crust pizzas in Singapore. Get your pizza fix with their holy Cheesus Crust ($24) or the meat lovers’ favourite Proscuitto ($29). If you’re feeling adventurous, their Pistachio & Pumpkin ($25) pizza is apparently their signature item. The Havana Ananas ($28) is also perfect if you’re on Team Pineapple on Pizza like I am.

5. La Nonna

For a taste of Italy’s country cuisine, La Nonna, which means ‘grandmother’ in Italian, is the place to go.

Agnello ($42)

Indulge in hearty and traditional Tuscan dishes such as Agnello ($42), a beautifully pan-seared rack of lamb. La Nonna also serves up an exquisite crab meat-loaded Linguine Al Granchio ($31) as well as a filling Risotto Alla Zafferano ($35.30). Finish up on a sweet note with their traditional Venetian Tiramisu ($13.40).

6. Marché Mövenpick

Ultimate Breakfast ($13.90)

Swiss chain Marché Mövenpick celebrates fresh market cuisine by using seasonal and local ingredients in all their dishes. Start your day right with hearty selections such as their Ultimate Breakfast ($13.90) or Club Sandwich ($5.90). If you’re a massive meat lover, the Roasted Chicken (from $14.90) and German Platter ($49.90) make for good choices too.

7. MeatSmith

BBQ lovers, this one’s for you.

Offering amazingly tasty American smokehouse barbecue, MeatSmith is an ultimate meat lover’s paradise. Savour on wood-fired barbecue favourites such as their 14-hour smoked Brisket 200grams ($36) and fall-off-the-bone tender Spiced Pork Ribs ($32). Otherwise, go all out with an exquisite 300g F1 Wagyu Tenderloin ($75) or 300g Rangers Valley Dry Aged Striploin ($80). It’s worth the splurge, I’ll tell you that.

8. Peperoni Pizzeria

Planning to share? Can’t get better than Peperoni Pizzeria’s mega-sized XXL pizzas!

If you’re planning to throw a pizza party, Peperoni Pizzeria will make your life so easy. With their ability to make incomprehensibly ginormous pizzas that go up to 21 inches wide, you won’t have to worry about not having enough pizzas. Popular flavours include the meaty Carne – M ($22), Pollo Arrabbiata – M ($19) as well as the ever-classic Margherita ($19) and Quattro Formaggi ($22).

9. Plank Sourdough Pizza

Sourdough pizzas? Plank Sourdough Pizza is the way to go.

Plank Sourdough Pizza specialises in sourdough crust pizzas and is the first pizzeria in Singapore to do so. They offer hand-stretched and freshly made sourdough pizzas that are topped with quality ingredients. For their take on a classic pepperoni pizza, Pizza O ($20) is the way to go. Other options you won’t go wrong with include Pizza 6 ($26) which is topped with parma ham, and Pizza 4 ($25) with pulled barbecued chicken. For something slightly unconventional, Pizza 9 ($25) features an intriguing pineapple cream sauce as its base.

10. Potato Head

Sometimes, a smashing-good burger is all it takes to make yourself feel better and that’s what Potato Head is all about.

Baby Huey ($18)

Their signature lamb burgers, Rambo ($21) and Rogan ($24), are surprisingly juicy and full of umami goodness. For a taste of local flavours, the Smokin’ B-Boy ($24) beef burger will surely satisfy. Also, if you’ve yet to try the plant-based Impossible burger, Potato Head’s Impossible Dream ($24) is what you need to get, period.

11. Wildfire Chicken & Burgers

What’s better than just having burgers? It’s having burgers and fried chicken, and Wildfire Chicken & Burgers certainly knows that. The multi-award-winning homegrown franchise boasts a selection of mouth-watering burgers.

The Eggstarter ($8)

Think The Eggstarter ($8), which is nothing but full of creamy and eggy goodness. Or the Shabu Burger (from $13), which will pique your taste buds with its Japanese flavours. Don’t forget their Signature Fried Chicken ($12 for 3pcs) while you’re at it too.
